cereal box fort and other crafts older boys might like?

I saw a page in Family Fun about making a fort out of cereal boxes with a glue gun - something like this. My 10 year-old wants to do this. We are collecting boxes still, but I'll post an update. Any suggestions for making it strong? We have a rough toddler and preschooler here, too.

I think part of the fun is the inevitable destruction and repair. Keep spare parts around and let your kids fix any damage themselves. As one of three brothers, I can remember that part of the fun of having a fort was wrecking it while rough-housing.

They only way to boy-proof that might be with a healthy layer of duct tape on the inside. Maybe you could stuff the boxes with newspaper to stave off the inevitable crush?
