What do you think about pediatrician recommended products?
Hi everyone! I'm a proud new mommy of a new baby girl! I've found trips to the grocery store to be most confusing! I wanted to get some opinions on pediatrician recommended products on medicines and lotions. If one product is pediatrician recommended and another one isn't (but may be cheaper and may look just as good?) what should I buy? Appreciate any input!

If it were actually recommended by MY pediatrician, I'd probably try it. If it just says "Pediatrician recommended" on the label, I take a good look at the ingredients. If the store brand is the same stuff, buy the cheaper one. BTW, I've found a really good (usually better) source of info on stuff you are putting into or onto your baby is the pharmacist. When I had questions, I always asked at the pharmacy desk and they were always very helpful.
Couldn't agree more with the pharmacist thing. I'm lucky to have a friend who is one, and she was my uber-texting buddy when I had my baby.
Remember, Pediatrician Recommended is a marketing ploy, and you have no idea who the actual pediatrician was, so relax. The worst thing about baby products is that they subliminally prey on mew mommies' fears that they don't know what they're doing. As long as you make an informed choice, you're making a good one.
I also have assumed that Pediatrician-recommended was just an advertising thing.
When my child was young I never took advantage of the pharmacist's expertise, because I mistakenly thought the pharmacists were only there to advise customers with prescriptions. But after my child's father came back from the drugstore with all sorts of tips from the pharmacist, I started asking for help and they really are a great resource.
