Vlad the Impaler and Me
October reading is very specific for me. The book has to be haunting, but not gory. It has to be smart, but enchanting. It has to draw me in and make me want to curl up into a deck chair with a blanket and pumpkin bread and ignore the rest of the world as the leaves float down. It has to come to life as the world dies around me. One of the best books for this month is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It's a massive tome and has Turks, Budapest, Oxford, and oh yeah Prince Vlad the Impaler. Trust me, it's not the cheesy Dracula, but the historically creepy one that has you peeking behind doors before you go to sleep.

Just finished Zig Zag by Jose Carlos Somoza. Creepy, suspenseful, sexy sci fi. A monster time travels from the past. Really good.
Oooh! Both of those sound really good! I used to be a Dean Koontz fan, but it's time to upgrade.
